Does freedom of speech exist?
Speaking of the
United States of America, we represent a free country that does not prosecute
for publishing personal opinions, even if they contradict generally accepted
norms. This was the case before, because the story with Julian Assange crossed
out any claim about freedom of speech in America. But let's take it in order.
Julian Assange is a
well-known journalist who became famous for publishing secret facts that he
received from anonymous informants in his publication Wikileaks. One of the
most high-profile cases published by him was the shooting of civilians in Iraq
by American soldiers. It was from that moment that his persecution began, which
lasted for a long 7 years.
At the moment, Julian
is under investigation, the judge finally allowed him to receive visitors.
Pamela
Anderson and Wikileaks editor-in-chief Kristina Hrafnsson went to see
Julian first. From the very beginning of his problems with the law, Pamela has
maintained that she believes he is completely innocent and that freedom of
speech should not be prosecuted. On her social media pages she writes:
"He's a wonderful person. I love him madly and I can't imagine what he had
to go through. We just have to save his life"
"Indeed, it is
very sad when the state accuses a person of committing a crime that he did not
commit" - these are the comments users write under the posts of Pamela
Anderson.
We hope that
everything will be resolved soon and the court will not impose too severe a
punishment on Julian. Otherwise, it will be a direct confirmation of the lack
of freedom of speech in the United States.
